Nanno Swen Rheumatology Trainer

Nanno Swen started his medicine study in ’74 and finished his Rheumatology specialisation in Slotervaart and Jan van Bremen Intitute Amsterdam in 1990. In 1991 he became a proficient musculoskeletal sonographer educated by dr. Marnix van Holsbeeck in Detroit. Nanno introduced MSK ultrasound in Rheumatology in the Netherlands and Europe soon and is considered the “Godfather of MSK Ultrasound in Rheumatology”.

From 1991 until 2018 he worked as a rheumatology consultant in Alkmaar Medical Centre. He was a teacher at the annual advanced MSK ultrasound course in Houten and member of the EULAR ultrasound committee. He participated various pharmaceutical studies and was (co) author of various medical articles. Until now he’s still active as a consultant rheumatologist with enough time left to teach MSK ultrasound to other rheumatology professionals on behalf of SonoSkills.
