WHAT YOU'LL LEARN

• Master Comprehensive Shoulder Anatomy and Sonoanatomy: Acquire detailed knowledge of the anatomical structures of the shoulder, including all muscles, tendons, and ligaments, and their corresponding ultrasound appearances. This includes proficiency in identifying sonoanatomic landmarks around the glenohumeral joint, the coracoid process, and acromioclavicular (AC) and sternoclavicular (SC) joints from multiple viewing angles.
• Develop Expertise in Ultrasound Techniques for Shoulder Examination: Achieve expertise in performing and interpreting dynamic and static ultrasound examinations of the shoulder. This involves mastering probe handling, optimizing ultrasound settings, and employing systematic scanning protocols to ensure comprehensive coverage of the shoulder region.
• Identify and Diagnose Pathological Conditions: Learn to accurately identify, diagnose, and differentiate between various shoulder pathologies using ultrasound. This includes tendon pathologies (e.g., tendinopathy, ruptures), muscle injuries (e.g., fatty infiltration, atrophy, ruptures), joint issues (e.g., degeneration, instability, effusions, synovitis, labrum defects, dislocations), and fluid accumulations in bursae, joints, and soft tissues.
• Integrate Clinical and Ultrasound Findings: Develop the ability to integrate clinical examination findings with ultrasound results to enhance diagnostic accuracy and therapeutic decision-making. This objective focuses on correlating physical symptoms and history with ultrasound imaging for a holistic approach to patient management.
