Nerve ultrasound (NU) is an easily applicable, affordable and fully accessible method for evaluation of peripheral nerve disorders. Aim of this webinar is to refresh cross-sectional area ultrasound anatomy of the upper and lower extremity nerves and propose diagnostic algorithms for the clinically most relevant entrapment and atypical neuropathies.

SCHEDULE & TOPICS

Part 1: Tuesday April 13th (7:00 – 8:30 PM CEST) – Upper extremity nerves
Cross sectional area ultrasound anatomy of median, ulnar, radial nerves and brachial plexus. Carpal and cubital tunnel syndromes.

Part 2: Tuesday April 20th (7:00 – 8:30 PM CEST) – Lower extremity nerves
Cross sectional area ultrasound anatomy of fibular, tibial and sural nerves. Fibular and tibial neuropathies.

Part 3: Tuesday April 27th (7:00 – 8:30 PM CEST) – Unusual / atypical cases
Traumatic neuropathies. Atypical entrapment neuropathies.

CONTENT

The application of high resolution ultrasound in the peripheral nerve system has helped us acquire important neuroimaging knowledge about several pathological modalities. The differential diagnostic work up of peripheral neuropathies requires not only good understanding of cross sectional area ultrasound anatomy, but also the methodological application of diagnostic algorithms, that have proven their sensitivity and specificity in everyday clinical practice.
