In this 90-minute session, we will make you a better MSK sonographer by explaining the theory of understanding, finding, observing and correctly quantifying neovascularization with blood flow measurement tools like i.e. Doppler imaging. You will learn which tools to use, and how to use them, so that you can screen and measure your patients successfully with i.e. Doppler imaging.

WHAT YOU'LL LEARN

  • What is Doppler imaging? What is the Doppler frequency shift?
  • Introductory information on several blood flow measurement tools like form example: spectral Doppler (continuous and pulse wave), color Doppler imaging (CDI), power Doppler imaging (PDI), superb microvascular flow imaging (SMI), contrast enhanced ultrasound (CEUS), and ultrasound vector flow imaging (UVFI).
  • Color Doppler imaging (CDI), power Doppler imaging (PDI), and superb microvascular flow imaging (SMI): when to use, how to use, how to modify your systems settings, image optimization, and pitfalls & pearls.
  • Trouble shooting in Doppler imaging: what to do when something goes wrong with image quality? Artifacts in Doppler imaging.
  • Using Doppler imaging in interventional MSK ultrasound.
  • Neovascularization: what is it? When, where and why is it present?
  • How to grade neovascularization?
  • How does neovascularization in several kinds of soft tissues present itself in MSK ultrasound?

Doppler imaging is underestimated. Many clinicians believe it’s just a matter of pushing a button on the system. Yet, the reality is that lack of understanding is at the heart of inadequate MSKUS evaluations and finding misinterpretations.

All content is on an intermediate level, it’s expected that attendees will have a foundational knowledge of MSK ultrasound.
