Using dynamic musculoskeletal sonography to assess the cubital tunnel for an ulnar nerve instability

Cubital tunnel syndrome (CuTS) is the second most common compressive neuropathy in the upper extremity. The use of physical examination alone has been shown to poorly predict intraoperative instability of the ulnar nerve following in situ decompression.

Rutter et al. (2019) have found the use of preoperative dynamic musculoskeletal sonography (MSKUS) an effective means of determining the stability of the ulnar nerve prior to surgery in patients with CuTS undergoing surgical decompression.

Dynamic MSKUS is be user-dependent and the ability to reliably perform dynamic MSKUS depends on education, practice and experience. SonoSkills can help you with the educational part.
