Cubital tunnel syndrome (CuTS) is the second most common compressive neuropathy in the upper extremity. The use of physical examination alone has been shown to poorly predict intraoperative instability of the ulnar nerve following in situ decompression.
Rutter et al. (2019) have found the use of preoperative dynamic musculoskeletal sonography (MSKUS) an effective means of determining the stability of the ulnar nerve prior to surgery in patients with CuTS undergoing surgical decompression.
