Bursae: Is Fluid Truly Your Friend? – An MSK Ultrasound Approach
This 90-minute online SonoClass will discuss several bursae in the upper and lower extremity: functional and topographic anatomy, histology, and pathophysiology. To strengthen your ultrasound skills we will take an MSK ultrasound approach and discuss the sonoanatomy, technical scanning details and sonopathology. Furthermore, we will discuss a few ultrasound-guided injection techniques to target those bursae.
WHAT YOU'LL LEARN
- Discovering the topographic anatomy of the upper and lower extremity bursae discussed.
- Learning some common pathologies, injuries and pathophysiologic mechanisms.
- Understanding the sonoanatomical appearance of the bursae and related structures.
- Learning how to scan the bursae correctly by using the SonoSkills Quality Checklist and creating great images.
- Learning how to analyze bursal pathology images in a structured and step-by-step approach by using the SonoSkills pathology checklist.
- Seeing a variety of pathology bursal cases in the hip joint i.e. bursal thickening, bursitis, calcific bursitis, migration of calcification, proliferative bursitis, etc.
- Learning how to perform the most common ultrasound-guided injection techniques to target the ventral knee.
